Tax Reduction Practice in Syria’s Import Regime

Dear Member,
In the letter dated 04.02.2025 and numbered 100-1280, forwarded to our Chamber by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), it was stated—referring to a communication from the Ministry of Trade—that, pursuant to changes in Syria’s import regime, an informal list of 269 products benefiting from tax reductions as of 28.01.2025 has been shared. The letter emphasized that the product descriptions in the list were taken from 6-digit Customs Tariff Statistical Positions for informational purposes only.
Considering that the list is informal and for information purposes, it was underlined that official announcements and guidance from the Ministry of Trade regarding foreign trade operations with Syria should be closely monitored.
Additionally, in order to avoid any possible grievances in exports of the products listed to Syria, it was recommended that exporters confirm the applicable customs duties with their importers in that country.
