Trump’s Reciprocity-Based Tariff Decision: 15% Customs Duty on Türkiye
U.S. President Donald Trump signed a decree amending customs duty rates based on reciprocity. According to the White House announcement, the regulation aims to reduce America’s annual trade deficits by recalibrating tariffs applied to certain countries.
•    Under the decree, tariff rates range between 10% and 41% depending on the country.
•    For Türkiye, the additional customs duty has been raised from 10% to 15%.
•    Countries not listed will face a 10% tariff.
•    Other notable rates include 25% for India, 39% for Switzerland, 41% for Syria, and an increase for Canada from 25% to 35%.
The new tariff rates are expected to take effect within a specified period following the publication of the decree.
This development may require exporters to the U.S. to reassess pricing, cost structures, and supply chain planning to adapt to the updated trade conditions.
