Türkiye and Syria Just Formalized Their Customs Relationship

A Memorandum of Understanding published in Türkiye's Official Journal on March 28, 2026 establishes a Joint Customs Committee (JCC) between the Turkish Ministry of Trade and Syria's General Authority for Borders and Customs.
The mandate is broad: faster and more secure border crossings, streamlined customs procedures, joint action against smuggling, and stronger supply chain security between the two countries.

With Syria's reconstruction underway, the Türkiye–Syria trade corridor is one to watch. The groundwork is being laid — and this committee is part of it.
