Mandatory Use of NCTS in Georgia Transit Operations: Starts 1 June 2025
The Directorate General of Customs has issued a notice titled “Georgia – Common Transit Convention Procedures”, reminding stakeholders of an important update. As of 1 June 2025, the use of the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) will become mandatory for transit shipments destined for Georgia and other Common Transit Countries. After this date, all transit operations on these routes must be processed through NCTS.
The notice also highlights that, as an alternative, transport may still be carried out under the provisions of the TIR Convention. This means companies will be required to use NCTS for eligible operations, but the TIR regime remains available where applicable.
Information on the launch of NCTS procedures in Georgia will be accessible via the official information portal, and a dedicated call center will provide technical support. For transport companies and exporters, completing preparations for the system transition without delay is crucial to avoid disruptions.
